Parish lunch, 15 Feb. 2015

St Nicholas & Parish Christmas Tree (6 December 2014)

On St Nicholas' Day, we decorated the parish Christmas Tree as part of the annual Christmas Tree Festival (29 Nov. - 7 Dec.) that takes place at St Giles' Church, now at its 6th edition.

The event unfolded between 10am and 12:30pm. We started the day with prayer, singing the Akathist Hymn to St Nicholas. Afterwards, all present joined the children in carol-singing and the actual decorating of the Christmas tree. At the end, the children were rewarded with sweets. 

Parish lunch

On Sunday, 9th November, we had our first 'parish lunch'. The meal took place in the church, at the end of the service, from around 13:30 pm. We thought it a good date to have the parish lunch on this day, since this was the last Sunday before the start of the Christmas Fast. Everybody contributed generously to the bring & share lunch, and this was very much appreciated! It was a great opportunity to get to know each other better and enjoy some good Romanian food.

Funeral of Barbu Armand Calinescu (1922-2014)

The funeral service took place on Thursday, 16 October at 2pm, with a reception immediately following at Magdalene College Hall, where Barbu spent time as a student.

Castle Hill Open Day 2014

Took place on Saturday, 18 October, 12-5pm. Our parish joined the Anglican Parish at St Giles, and others, in offering refreshments to visitors on the day.
