The patron saint of the parish is St John the Evangelist, whom we particularly remember on 8 May - our parish feast day.
Our parish belongs to the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of Western and Central Europe, Deanery of Great Britain (Canon/Dean: Fr Silviu-Petre Pufulete), under the care of His Eminence, Metropolitan Iosif Pop. The parish began in 2009-2010, when Fr. Aurel Radulet offered the first services. Since March 2014, the care of the parish was entrusted to Fr. Dragos Herescu, who served as Deacon for the parish, since 2012.
The congregation is made up of both Romanian and British Orthodox, from Cambridge and the surrounding areas - although predominately Romanian. We use both Romanian and English during services, as appropriate.
The Romanian parish in Cambridge meets at St Giles' church and enjoys a fruitful ecumenical cooperation with the Anglican parish at St Giles', our hosts, which have been very receptive to the needs of our community, particularly in accommodating a more suitable time for our worship on Sunday mornings.
Our parish also entertains links with The Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies in Cambridge and the Romanian Student Society, University of Cambridge.
Our parish is the latest Orthodox parish in Cambridge, joining the Greek Parish of Sf. Athanasios - Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Parish of Sf. Ephraim the Syrian – Moscow Patriarchate.
