What is the Triodion?
The Triodion is a 70-day liturgical period (approximately 10 weeks) that includes preparation for Great Lent, the fast itself, and Holy Week. The Triodion begins with a preparatory period (Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee, of the Prodigal Son, of the Last Judgment, and of the Expulsion of Adam from Paradise) and continues with the 6 weeks of Great Lent. The Triodion ends on Holy Saturday, before Holy Easter. |
"Open to me the gates of repentance, O Life-Giver,
For my spirit rises early to pray towards Your holy temple, bearing the temple of my body all defiled; But in Your compassion, purify me by the loving-kindness of Your mercy." "Lead me on the paths of salvation, O Mother of God, For I have profaned my soul with shameful sins, and have wasted my life in laziness. But by your intercessions, deliver me from all impurity." (hymns from Matins during the Triodion period) |
Parish Membership Register St John the Evangelist Romanian parish Cambridge
As our Orthodox parish community in Cambridge continues to grow, we are establishing an official Parish Membership Register to deepen our connection with one another and ensure that our spiritual family remains united.
Signing up is voluntary and free, and offers you direct personal benefits, ensuring you are the first to know about service schedules, family-oriented events, and vital parish news, while also simplifying administrative processes for pastoral needs like baptisms, weddings,
or pastoral visits at home.
For the Parish Priest, this register is an essential tool to better know, understand, and serve the spiritual needs of the flock. Furthermore, by registering your membership, you help us build a stronger foundation for the future.
Accurate numbers allow us to organize more effectively for charitable outreach, ambitious capital projects, and community initiatives that will serve our children for generations to come.
