Kontakion - Sunday of the Prodigal Son

O Father, foolishly I ran away from Your glory, and in sin, squandered the riches You gave me. Wherefore, I cry out to You with the voice of the Prodigal, "I have sinned before You Compassionate Father. Receive me in repentance and take me as one of Your hired servants."

ONLINE EVENT / OFSJB Study Weekend: ‘The Psalms: Prayerbook of the Church’

On 26-27 February 2021, the Orthodox Fellowship of St John the Baptist (OFSJB), in collaboration with the Romanian Orthodox Parish of St John the Evangelist in Cambridge, are organising an online study weekend on the theme of: ‘The Psalms: Prayerbook of the Church’.

This event takes place on Zoom and it is free to attend. You can find the programme here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/ofsjb-study-weekend-the-psalms-prayerbook-of-the-church-tickets-138411324999

(The Zoom link for the study weekend will be sent to registered participants by email nearer the date.)

Important notice!

On 6th January 2021, a new period of lockdown has come into force in England, with express rules for staying at home and avoiding non-essential travel.

In this context, and given the recent rapid growth in the spread of COVID19, particularly of the new, more transmissible strain of the virus,
for the duration of the lockdown (until mid-February at least), there will be no services with congregation attending in church.

Services will be exclusively streamed on Zoom and Mixlr. Parents who wish their children to receive Holy Communion on Sundays or the major feast days, are welcome to contact me about this.

During this period, please continue to send prayer requests by using the online form on this page.

Daily updates regarding the national UK outlook on the number of COVID19 cases and deaths is available on the official UK Government website for Coronavirus.

God bless!
Father Dragos

If you are not on the parish email list but would like to join, to receive links to services and other relevant information, please contact me.
Exceptionally during this period, please send your prayer requests or lists by using the special form on our website
both for remembrance at the Divine Liturgy and prayer over the week.

God bless,
Father Dragos

Special prayer for deliverance from new coronavirus epidemic

Lord, our God, Who are rich in mercy, and with your wise providence govern our life, hear our prayer, receive our repentance for our sins, stop the new infectious disease (the new epidemic), as You once ceased the punishment of Your people in the time of King David.

You, Who are the Physician of our souls and bodies, grant recovery to the sick, raising them hastily from the bed of suffering so that they may glorify You, our Merciful Saviour, and protect the healthy ones from any disease.

Bless, O Lord, strengthen and protect with Your grace all those who with philanthropy and sacrifice take care of the sick at their homes or in hospitals.

Remove all disease and suffering from among the people and teach us to value life and health as Your gifts. Give us, o God, Your peace and fill our hearts with steadfast faith in Your protection, with hope in Your support and with love for You and our neighbour.

For it is Yours to have mercy on us and save us, our God, and to You we give glory: to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
