Sunday 16 August 2026
Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost (The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant) Matins 09:00 - 10:00 Divine Liturgy 10:00 - 12:00 *** This Sunday, the Divine Liturgy starts at 10am, not 11am (as is usually the case) *** Epistle reading this Sunday: 1 Cor 9: 2-12 Gospel reading on Sunday: Matthew 18: 23-35 *** "Brethren, you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. [...] It was written for our sake, because the ploughman should plough in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of a share in the crop. If we have sown spiritual good among you, is it too much if we reap your material benefits? If others share this rightful claim upon you, do not we still more? Nevertheless, we have not made use of this right, but we endure anything rather than put an obstacle in the way of the gospel of Christ." (1 Cor. 9: 2; 10-12) |

As mother of life, you departed to the source of life, delivering our souls from death by your intercessions. Kontakion (tone 2) Neither the grave nor death could contain the Theotokos, the unshakable hope, ever vigilant in intercession and protection. As Mother of life, He who dwelt in the ever-virginal womb transposed her to life. |

Gift Aid Form
Our parish is registered as a charity in England and Wales. As such, we are eligible for 'Gift Aid' from HMRC.
Gift Aid is a UK government scheme allowing charities to claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate, at no cost to you. It works by reclaiming the basic rate tax (20%) you already paid on your income. For example, a £10 donation becomes worth £12.50.
If you are a UK tax-payer and have made a donation to the parish in the last year, or you make a donation, completing the Gift Aid form helps us collect government support for charities. The parish bank account details are available on the Donations page.
You can complete the form at the link below. Thank you.
God bless you for your help and for sustaining our community! Fr Dragos

Parish Membership Register St John the Evangelist Romanian parish Cambridge
As our Orthodox parish community in Cambridge continues to grow, we are establishing an official Parish Membership Register to deepen our connection with one another and ensure that our spiritual family remains united.
Signing up is voluntary and free, and offers you direct personal benefits, ensuring you are the first to know about service schedules, family-oriented events, and vital parish news, while also simplifying administrative processes for pastoral needs like baptisms, weddings,
or pastoral visits at home.
For the Parish Priest, this register is an essential tool to better know, understand, and serve the spiritual needs of the flock. Furthermore, by registering your membership, you help us build a stronger foundation for the future.
Accurate numbers allow us to organize more effectively for charitable outreach, ambitious capital projects, and community initiatives that will serve our children for generations to come.
